Sourdough Cookery

May 20, 2011
Yesterday I posted about my sourdough cinnamon rolls. Someone said that they always wanted to work with sourdough, but didn’t know how to start the starter.

Hi Amanda! I'm so happy to have found you via Boost My Blog. You have so many features that have already grabbed my attention. I'm looking forward to following you. Hopefully we'll both find inspiration and enjoyment from each other. My Mom used to bake breads regularly and she was a big fan of sourdoughs. She always had a big (smelly LOL) jar of starter and she was darned proud of it. I've never made it myself but I love it. Have a great

I made sourdough once using the recipe from a Better Homes and Garden cookbook; it didn't turn out great–a little too crusty. The REAL downside was that I forgot about the starter and left it sitting in my cabinet over the sink for weeks until my kitchen smelled very musty and odd. I think I'll stick to things I'm better at baking (namely cookies).
