Reusable Sandwich Bags by Textiles by Teal: A Review

September 10, 2011
You’re probably in the same boat as I am. You want to do what’s right, help the environment and everything, but you don’t have all the money in the world.

Sometimes it seems that the “eco-friendly” choices are not very friendly to my wallet.

However, I’ve been wanting to try reusable bags for lunches since they would save money AND reduce the amount of plastic I throw away. I try to re-use the regular ones you buy at the store, but they don’t always hold up super well.

Enter Textiles by Teal.

She sells a variety of products, but her reusable bags were especially interesting to me. She sent me a set of 3 bags to review.

I was very impressed by the quality. First of all, they’re adorable. She uses a variety of fabrics, but this fruit fabric is so great for lunches. Her stitching is nice and even, only a couple of bobbles. (Since I sew, I notice these things.)

The interior is lined in nylon, and there’s a strong strip of velcro to shut the bag. It definitely holds your food (and crumbs!) in. When you’re done, simply wipe out the bag. Or wash and line dry for a more thorough cleaning once in a while.

Here’s my cookies, trying to escape. Teal also told me that one person replacing three bags in their lunch every day would save $50 in a year. Imagine if everyone in your family did this. What a savings! Especially since this set of 3 bags is only $12.

Want your own set? Be sure and visit Textiles by Teal and use coupon code NINTH for 10% off until September 21.

Great review! I've seen the bags before and wondered if they really held your food securely and how to clean them. Now I know! : )
