How to Make Cute Shabby Chic Fabric Leaf Earrings

August 16, 2011
Who doesn’t love a super simple project that uses up fabric scraps? I know I do because I can hardly bear to ever get rid of even the smallest bit of fabric.

That’s why I’m excited to show you this very easy project for fabric leaf earrings. They couldn’t be simpler, and they use up little pieces of fabric scraps in an adorable fashion.

Gather your materials: For each earring you need two pieces of fabric cut into a leaf, or teardrop, shape and one ear wire.

Place the fabric pieces wrong side together and sew with a straight stitch around the edge. Keep it fairly close to the edge, but don’t worry about making it perfect.

After clipping threads, sew a straight stitch in the middle of the leaf and cut the threads.

Bend the ear wire so that you can put the leaf in it. Poke a hole through the top of the leaf using a seam ripper. Be careful not to go through the top – you just want a hole.

Put the ear wire through the hole in the leaf and close up the ear wire. And you’re done! It’s that simple to have these cute shabby chic fabric leaf earrings.

And that’s me wearing them!
